Directions A few rules for the TDM: 2. Comment with your thread start, with your character name and fandom in the subject line. 3. Tag into others' threads. 4. Have fun! 5. And what happens on the TDM stays on the TDM (it's not taken in game unless an exception is granted - see prompts below). **If you have questions, just ask your MODS! We don't bite (unless that's your thing, then ask for Ang). PROMPT ONE – The Event & The Network It hits you from out of nowhere: one second you are going about your day, and then for ten to thirty seconds, everything - your surroundings, your sense of self - changes. You see a moment from another life. When you come back to your senses, there is an elderly man waiting for you, and a team of workers administering to the people in your immediate vicinity. They seem to be doing something intrusive to those other people, but they are leaving you alone. How did they get there so fast? The elderly man introduces himself as Mr. Martin, the Head of the Department of Containment at the Bureau of Interdimensional Activities. His accent is hard to place. But he begins to explain the multiverse... and in doing so, he turns your world upside down. “In summary, what you’ve just experienced is the memory of a past life. You will receive more, but I cannot tell you how many, when, or what they will be. You are one of what we call 'The Different' now... The Bureau will be keeping an eye on you,” Mr. Martin says, and he hands you a card with the acronym ‘IBA’ on one side, and a street address and a forum website address on the other. “There are others like you, experiencing memories from a past life,” he continues. “The Bureau has set up a network so you can connect, find support… work out your confusion.” There’s something sinister about the way he says that… maybe? It’s hard to make sense of everything happening so quickly. “And one more thing – do try to stay out of trouble.” Then he leaves you to your own devices, whatever they may be. Now, you don’t really know whether to trust Mr. Martin or believe a word he says. Something about him seemed...off. Something that was enough to, perhaps, even make you feel suspicious. But now you know...you are one of the Different. You feel like it, too. And then there's the matter of that link that he gave you: the special Network that members of the Different communicate on. Will you post to it? Will you relate your memories to the others among the Different—or will you come up with something completely different to say? [OOC: Threads for this prompt can, with Mod permission, be reposted into the game comms after a character is added. Players must speak to the Mods first.] PROMPT TWO – Support Group There’s a generic spread of food on a table off to one side of the room: donuts and muffins, coffee and lemonade. Maybe you’re hungry enough to try it—it’s free after all. Or maybe you can’t stomach anything, given the event you’re attending. The space is a local rec center, reserved for the evening. The beige-painted cinder block walls and the fluorescent lighting are a terrible combination that feels a bit more like a detention center than a comfortable place for discussion and reassurance. Even so, the meeting - led by a member of the Bureau's Department of Medical Services - was interesting—who knew there were so many people like you, receiving memories of a past life? Some of them are staying in their chairs and chatting—they must know each other from previous meetings. Others are gravitating towards the food and free - if lackluster - coffee. How are you feeling about your Memory Event tonight? Has coming to the Bureau's Support Group Meeting helped you come to terms with the dreams or memories you’re having? Maybe it’s time to talk to others and get an understanding of their experience. [OOC: Threads for this prompt can, with Mod permission, be reposted into the game comms after a character is added. Players must speak to the Mods first.] PROMPT THREE – Sticky Situation Just when you thought you were adjusting to life as one of the Different... one morning you wake up and start to go about your day as normal. However, at some moment, an object in your vicinity will randomly, and inconveniently turn into a bowl of lemon sherbet (and just lemon sherbet). Did you need that morning cup of coffee to get going? Oh, no, there’s lemon sherbet on the counter where your French press used to be. About to Netflix and chill? Oh no, there’s lemon sherbet on the TV stand... Once you no longer needs the item, it will return to its original state... but you're going to have to deal with it in the meantime. Good luck explaining that to anyone around you who isn't among the Different ...! [OOC: This prompt is based on a past event: if you have questions about it, please look here!] PROMPT FOUR – Expanded Universes A portal? To another universe? Okay, that's not a thing, right? But you've started getting those memories of another life, so what do you know about the nature of the universe— universes anymore? And the other Different talk about it so much you just have to check it out for yourself. Maybe you're glad you did...maybe you wish you'd stop falling down further into this rabbit hole. But the portal is real! There are two other universes to choose from as you go through, and neither are like anything you ever knew existed ... Krajina Božstiev is a sprawling city that feels like you've stepped back into the middle of the Renaissance. There's so much to see: sprawling open air markets that trade in fabrics, dyes, spices (some you've never heard of or tried before!), glass beads, handcrafted items, daggers and knives, simple clothing, blankets, and unfamiliar fruits and vegetables; a library where all the books are locked on chains connected to the shelves, but the librarians are willing to let you read while you're there; a gold-covered public bathhouse; taverns with good, down to earth food and wonderful story-tellers to entertain patrons; peaceful rolling hills outside the city gates (gates close at sundown, mind you); beautiful gardens on the lower palace grounds that are open to the public; and a curious new Temple dedicated to eight Deities that people swear are real. Or maybe the portal takes you to Pahuuden Maa instead: a mountain resort town robed in eternally pristine winter. You always wanted to vacation at a ski lodge, right? Maybe ride a sleigh pulled by reindeer and kitted out to be a moving bar? There's always the ice sculpture gallery and ice maze on display at the Palace ... or the hot springs ... For those who feel more adventurous and want to explore the local woods, they might encounter wild Energy Bursts, mischevous phenomenon that can trigger snowy, icy antics if provoked. PROMPT FIVE – Wildcard Looking for that slice-of-life option? Look no further. What are you doing around NYC? If you need some ideas, look here, or maybe swing by The Lotus Club Whether you've lived here your whole life or you've just moved to the city ... take a bite out of the Big Apple - anything that's there in real life is fair game!
