When the bank robbery happens, Conner finds himself running toward the action, not away from it, and earns a bullet for his trouble. He is sitting in a cafe afterward, reading an article that is trying to make him out like some kind of hero when he sighs and throws the newspaper down. His face is everywhere now and he hates it.
"I'm not some damn hero. An idiot, maybe, but not a hero." And he winces as his shoulder aches, and his hand goes to it. Fuck, getting shot hurts.
